Abstract
The Health and Medicine Division of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine has issued a framework for action titled Making Eye Health a Population Health Imperative: Vision for Tomorrow. Recommendations include a call to action by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and coordinated surveillance for eye and vision health by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The committee authoring the report also recommends that the DHHS initiate a public awareness campaign and establish an interagency work group to coordinate research targeting the leading causes of visual impairment. School nurses are cited as being crucial for quality screening. Read the report at:
