Abstract
Visuals are becoming mainstream as a way to increase the public's awareness on a variety of subjects. MyPlate has risen in popularity since its release. However, some questions still exist about the visual educational material. The intention of this survey was to determine the attitudes of nutrition professionals about MyPlate and its visual appeal. The majority of the 142 participants thought MyPlate was easy to use (n = 83 [58.9%]), but over half (n = 75 [52.8%]) also thought that information was missing. Findings indicate that nutrition professionals consider MyPlate a good starting educational material but prefer to use supplemental materials to further counsel patients.
