Sigvaris (Winterthur, Switzerland) has acquired BiaCare (Holland, Michigan), a company that includes an advanced line of compression products designed to treat lymphedema, lipedema, and chronic venous insufficiency. Sigvaris focuses on the development, production, and distribution of medical compression garments, including hosiery and socks.

Soluble Systems (Newport News, Virginia) announced that a smaller size of its TheraSkin product is now available. The new 6-cm2 size is designed to provide faster healing and wound closure to smaller wounds, with increased cost savings and favorable reimbursement, according to the manufacturer. TheraSkin is a biologically active, cryopreserved human skin allograft indicated for chronic wounds of all sizes.

Organogenesis Inc (Canton, Massachusetts) announced that its PuraPly and PuraPly Antimicrobial wound management products are now eligible for Medicare coverage and reimbursement in 10 additional states, providing coverage for an additional 7.5 million Medicare beneficiaries, following the decision by National Government Services to retire its local coverage determination for cellular and tissue-based products effective September 1, 2016. The 2 products are FDA 510(k)-cleared Class II medical devices indicated for acute and chronic wound management across a wide variety of wound types, including partial- and full-thickness wounds, pressure ulcers, surgical wounds, trauma wounds, and venous and diabetic ulcers.
