For clinicians, authors, and editors who may access reports and other information from the Health and Medicine Division (HMD) of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, the organization's website address has changed to http://www.nationalacademies.org/HMD. This replaces the former web address "http://www.iom.edu," as of July 1, 2016. Recently, the division of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (the Academies) that focuses on health and medicine was renamed the HMD instead of using the name Institute of Medicine (IOM). This new name builds on the heritage of the IOM's work in medicine while emphasizing its increased focus on a wider range of health matters.
The academies note that all reports issued by the new HMD division should be cited as reports of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Reports issued prior to June 30, 2015, will continue to be cited as IOM reports in perpetuity. Suggested citations for each report can be found on page ii (the copyright page) of that report, and all reports are available to download free of charge on the HMD website.
