Abstract

Manual therapy interventions for the aging population (aged 50 years) have received increased attention in the research literature over the last decade. Where only 2 published trials were present before 2005, more than 10 publications on the results of clinical and randomized trials now provide a strong body of evidence, supporting at least the consideration of the usage of manual interventions to the hip region for the aged patient impaired by restricted hip function. This literature review synthesizes the most recent additions to the growing body of knowledge in this area, providing to the reader a detailed narrative on the utilization of manual therapy in this patient population.
