Abstract

Abstract: Tranexamic acid (TXA) is an antifibrinolytic agent that has been shown to decrease mortality in trauma patients at risk for or actively bleeding. This article discusses the risks and benefits of using I.V. TXA to treat patients with traumatic injuries and critical assessment considerations for critical care nurses caring for patients who may be candidates for this therapy.
