Abstract
ABSTRACT: The first described case of "sarcoidosis" was a patient presenting with an unusual cutaneous finding in 1877, which was then termed "livid papillary psoriasis." Sarcoidosis is now known to affect the skin in up to 25% of patients, with the lungs being the primary affliction sites for most patients. The presentations of cutaneous sarcoidosis can vary greatly. For some, it may cause great psychological and social impairment. Approach to therapy can be challenging because of varying responses to treatment and ability of sarcoidosis to remit spontaneously. We present a summary of the clinical manifestations and associated named syndromes and define management of cutaneous sarcoidosis.
