As a labor and delivery nurse, I can understand that bereavement care, while incredibly rewarding, can be both challenging and overwhelming ("Fetal Demise: Caring for the Parents," AJN Reports, August).
I appreciate that this article brings attention to the complexities of perinatal loss, as well as to the value mementos hold for a grieving family. Being aware of the significance of these keepsakes can help us to encourage supportive nursing care and promote hospital policies that mandate these comforts for all.
