On this month's cover, we celebrate AJN's 115th anniversary with a collage showcasing archival photographs and past covers. The images were chosen by AJN editors as a testament to the many varied roles and responsibilities of nurses past and present, as well as to commemorate our chronicling of nursing through the decades.
AJN editor-in-chief Shawn Kennedy sees the anniversary as an opportunity to celebrate the huge strides the nursing profession has taken since AJN published its first issue in 1900. "For the past 115 years, AJN has covered nursing in the United States-from its initial growing pains to what has become the largest health care profession and the profession repeatedly ranked as the most trusted," she says. In this issue, we also celebrate another nursing milestone: the 50th anniversary of the NP-with a timeline to illustrate and recap the significant progress this advanced practice nurse has made.
