Drager releases Perseus A500 Anesthesia Workstations in the United States
Drager announced that the Perseus A500 Anesthesia Workstation is now available in the United States. This device has high-performance ventilation, enhanced ergonomics, and automation supporting the OR workflow. It is designed to meet the needs of anesthesia providers, biomedical engineers, and anesthesia technicians.
After observing anesthesia providers, Drager specialists adapted the Perseus A500 to convert to more than 100 versions by combining hardware and software options.
The Perseus A500 offers airway pressure release ventilation that supports continuity of care between the ICU and OR. The Low Flow Wizard technology reduces anesthetic agent costs and helps anesthesia providers deliver low- and minimal-flow anesthesia.
Supplies can be organized in a well-lit workspace, with storage drawers, a pull-out writing tray, shelving options, and hooks. Anesthesia, ventilation, and hemodynamic data are displayed on a single screen.
The workstation requires minimal cleaning time because the device only has a few parts. Designated channels guide hoses, keeping them protected, organized, and accessible. The heated breathing system also reduces condensation and facilitates fast gas exchange rates.
Radio frequency ID technology on the workstation reminds users when to change parts such as the water trap. Also, acoustic and visual alarms are reminders when vaporizer filling levels are low.
The programmed self-start timer gets the workstation off to a prompt start again the next day.
Medi-Dose, Inc./EPS, Inc. announces new metric-only oral dispensers meeting ISMP recommendations
EPS has released additional metric-only oral dispensers that meet the latest Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) recommendations and are completely latex-free. Available in light-resistant amber, the new metric-only oral dispensers are stocked in four sizes-1, 3, 5, and 10 mL. These new oral dispensers complement EPS's growing line of other metric-only and dual graduation dispensing products for both hospital and community use. More than 40 styles and capacities are available.
EPS's oral dispensers contain an innovative one-piece plunger construction that eliminates rubber grommets and silicone coating, making it easy for the plunger to slide through the barrel.
Each of the new metric-only oral dispensers has a unique tip design that provides for easier oral and topical dispensing applications. The tip design prohibits hypodermic needles, while the low-capacity tip reservoir reduces residual content and ensures maximum medication delivery.
All EPS oral dispensers can be capped with either standard tip caps or the novel "wagon wheel" stand design. The wagon wheel cap provides a solid base for standing dispensers on a counter top where they can be easily handled when administering medication.
Every EPS oral dispenser, as well as the entire line of syringe and dispensing products, can be labeled with the EPS LiquiDose Butterfly and Mini LiquiDose Labels. Each label also has bar codes using the company's MILT 4 software.
