PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The R.B. Turnbull, Jr., MD WOC Nursing Education Program was established in 1961, and offers online and on-site courses.
ON-SITE EDUCATION OPTION: Offered twice a year, the on-site classes are completed in a traditional classroom on Cleveland Clinic's main campus. Learning activities include lecture presentations by Cleveland Clinic faculty, skill development, interactive lessons, individual assignments, and a comprehensive final exam. Clinical experiences are scheduled with our own preceptors, and include extensive inpatient, ambulatory care, and home care patient populations. With one of the highest patient acuities in the nation, you will participate in the management of a wide variety of complex care problems that will both challenge and prepare you for your own WOC nursing practice.
ONLINE EDUCATION OPTION: Offered three times per year, online course work is accomplished within the learning management system, and includes active learning methods through the following courses: Concepts in WOC Nursing, Acute and Chronic Wounds, Fecal & Urinary Diversions, and Urinary & Fecal Incontinence. Each of the courses are four weeks in length and include asynchronous discussion threads, self directed learning modules, individual and group projects, and a comprehensive final exam. Once the didactic courses are completed, each learner will participate in a clinical experience with an approved preceptor. Approved preceptors will receive our own "Preceptor's Manual" to guide the clinical experience.

3. TRANSITION WOC NURSING EDUCATION PROGRAM
The Transition Course offers two units of study that incorporate theoretical and clinical knowledge related to abdominal stomas and incontinence for a Wound Care Specialty nurse to become a WOC nurse.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Rutgers University School of Nursing Camden (SNC) is a part of one of the largest research intensive universities in the nation. The SNC opened in 2010 and was built upon 30 years of baccalaureate nursing education as a Department of Nursing. Rutgers SNC is preparing RNs for the future of health care by offering the WOCNEP as a graduate level certificate in which participants learn about the theory and practices that promote and restore health for people with wounds or skin conditions, fecal or urinary diversions (ostomies), and continence problems. The course work of this program earns students graduate level credits that can be used to further their education beyond the certificate including the School's Doctor of Nursing Practice Program. The on-site class meets once weekly in late afternoon and evening timeframe making for easy commuting and work schedule adaptation. Digital supports via the E-College learning platform permit 24-7 access to course materials. Clinical preceptorships are completed offsite near the student's home with an appropriately credentialed preceptor. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: San Jose State University, located in San Jose, California, is the oldest public institution of higher education on the West Coast. The Valley Foundation School of Nursing was founded in 1946 and has been well-established in the Bay Area. Today, our school offers baccalaureate, masters, and Doctor of Nursing Practice education to a diverse student population. Our program philosophy is to offer access to specialty education in wound and ostomy care to all interested nurses who meet the criteria of enrollment. Students may take one or both courses each semester. The program is designed to allow flexibility for working RNs, with most of the classes being held online in the evenings.
The program consists of both didactic and practicum components, incorporating interactive lectures, discussions, and skills practice in the instructional design. The program uses the web-based online instructional technologies to conduct virtual live class sessions and to provide recordings of the lectures. Two mandatory on-site days per specialty provide students with hands-on practice and an immersive learning experience. A minimum of 40 hours of practicum per specialty is required upon successful completion of the didactic portion of the course. Students will be assigned to our designated preceptors within the San Francisco Bay Area; outside preceptors may be approved at the program's discretion. Continuing Education Units will be offered after completion of the program.

1. WOUND MANAGEMENT EDUCATION PROGRAM
This 130.0 contact hour program is accredited by the WOCN Society and offered twice yearly for RNs seeking advanced knowledge and skills in the management of chronic and complex wounds. Graduates of this program are eligible to take the WOCNCB exam for certification as a wound care nurse. The program begins with 6 weeks of online learning activities using multiple teaching and learning strategies, with 24-hour access to course content. Following the online phase, students attend 3 weeks of intensive didactic and clinical experience. The course addresses a broad range of wounds, healing problems and components of specialized nursing practice. Concepts guiding the didactic content and practicum are prevention, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of the healing process. A unique aspect of the program is the selection and matching of students with preceptors certified in wound care and practicing in diverse healthcare settings. A baccalaureate degree is required. Students who successfully complete this program will earn 6 graduate quarter credits.

Content is based on national wound management guidelines for a broad range of wounds. The course is presented in two parts: 6 weeks of online learning, followed by a 2 day on-site workshop. Registration is open to individual participants and to agencies interested in offering this educational opportunity at their facility in partnership with UWCNE.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Wound Management Specialty Program is a continuing nursing education program, fully accredited as a traditional 3 week on-site educational program by the WOCN Society. The program consists of approximately 96 hours didactic, and 40 hours of clinical experience with WOC preceptors in the VA and greater Kansas City Area.
The Academy is located in Leavenworth, Kansas at the Eastern Kansas Health Care System's VA Medical Center. The course prepares the nurse to practice preventive, rehabilitative, health maintenance, and therapeutic interventions in the management of acute and chronic wounds, fistulae, management of percutaneous drains and tubes, and lower extremity diseases. Our goal is to prepare nurses with a high quality wound specialty program that optimizes patient outcomes across their lifespan.
Graduates of the course will be eligible to take the certification examination offered by the WOCNCB to become a certified wound care nurse.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Founded in 2001, webWOC was the first ONLINE program accredited by the WOCN Society. Strengths of this Program are a robust faculty and support staff with rigorous curriculum. The Program is taught by experts in WOC nursing (most Faculty have a minimum of 20 years WOC nursing experience) and in online education (most Faculty have a minimum of 10 years teaching online) via online discussions, exams and weekly LIVE online classes. Courses are 100% ONLINE designed for baccalaureate-prepared nurses with computer experience at all levels who wish to pursue education in the WOC nursing specialty without traveling or putting their home/work life on hold. The clinical practicum offered is a split option where the student completes a clinical experience locally. However, the clinical experience is dependent upon the student's geographic location.
