Overconsumption of cholesterol is no longer a concern, says the 2015 U.S. Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee. This is a reversal from years of warnings about the importance of limiting cholesterol intake to 300 mg per day. After reviewing the latest scientific data, the committee decided that the "available evidence shows no appreciable relationship between consumption of dietary cholesterol and serum cholesterol." This position parallels the view of experts at the American Heart Association.
