Hope this holiday season was filled with time well spent with family and the New Year is filled with good health and happiness!
As we begin 2015, I would like to look back over our accomplishments from last year....
We were fortunate enough to have 49 candidates take the certified aesthetic nurse specialist (CANS) examination this fall with 48 passing. This represents a 98% pass rate. As of December 31, we have paid off the cost of initiating the CANS examination. The certified plastic surgical nurse (CPSN) has had 28 nurses take the test this fall with 24 passing. The pass rate is 86% for this group. I think we should be very pleased with our pass rates overall.
We did a CPSN examination rewrite in March. This looks at each and every test question and evaluates the effectiveness of the question. Some of you may have seen the new examination at the fall testing. Final corrections will be addressed and the examination will be put into practice for the next testing session.
We have also approved the electronic examination, which means decreasing the number of test questions. Turnaround time for test results should shorten as well.
We continue to work on ways to validate our organization. We need to promote the importance of certification. We are looking at ways to spread the word through postcards, support of bra day, and so forth.
We would like to make sample tests available for those preparing for the examination. Hopefully this will be something you will see in the near future.
We are currently working on the criteria for recertification of the CANS examination. This is a priority, as our first testing group will be coming due for recertification.
As you can see, we are quite busy. I am very lucky to have a phenomenal group of women on this board and tremendous support from ASPSN. Without their hard work and dedication, none of this would happen.
Here's to a productive 2015, cheers!
Respectfully,
