Reducing the number of central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs) is essential to providing quality patient care, maintaining patient satisfaction, and reducing costs ("Champions for Central Line Care," September 2014). At my organization, we have dedicated "central line champions" who track and monitor interventions and educate staff on ways to reduce CLABSIs.

Our patients trust us with their lives. I tell my fellow nurses to always start by washing their hands-the number one way to prevent infection.
