Devon Medical Products has received FDA clearance for its extriCARE 2400 Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) pump to operate with its foam dressing kit. The extriCARE 2400 NPWT pump is a lightweight, portable, battery-powered device designed to work with the company's patented anatomically fitted NPWT bandage dressings and new foam dressing kit. According to the manufacturer, the negative-pressure system works to remove wound exudates, infectious material, and tissue debris from the wound bed and bring blood to the wound. The foam dressing kit uses a foam pad under an adhesive film that can be applied directly to the wound bed.

Smith & Nephew recently announced that Regranex (becaplermin) Gel, 0.01%; Oasis Wound Matrix; and Oasis Ultra Tri-Layer Matrix have been granted the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) Seal of Approval. Francis Fournier, President, US Commercial, Advanced Wound Management, stated that Smith & Nephew was honored to receive the APMA designation, demonstrating the benefits of these products in treating diabetic foot ulcers.

For a product to earn the APMA's Seal of Approval, it is carefully reviewed by a group of APMA podiatrists, who conduct a detailed scientific evaluation. After extensive review, the Seal is granted only to products that show evidence of safety and effectiveness.
