In the next few months, the Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing will feature a new department, titled "Pharmacology Update: Where Evidence Meets Practice." We are thrilled that Sara Paul, DNP, FNP, and Robert Page, PharmD, MSPH, will colead this new section of the journal. Each article will be coauthored by a pharmacist and a nurse, an approach that we believe will emphasize the team perspective inherent in effective clinical care. Sara and Robert are planning 2 to 4 articles each year. Initial topics will include drugs used to treat heart failure, hypertension guidelines, and new anticoagulants. These articles will provide not only state-of-the-art updates on pharmacology but also essential insight into the clinical application of pharmacotherapy in patients with cardiovascular disease. Another feature of the department that we think will be particularly appealing is the opportunity to obtain pharmacology continuing education credits. Contact hours will be awarded for each article after taking a posttest on the JCN Web site (http://journals.lww.com/jcnjournal/pages/default.aspx).
