DM Systems, Evanston, Illinois, released the favorable results of a recent study that evaluated the ability of its Heelift Glide boot to create a dry, cool microclimate to help facilitate the prevention and healing of heel pressure ulcers. The Textile Protection and Comfort Center in the College of Textiles at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina, conducted the research using an advanced sweating foot manikin system to determine the thermal resistance of Heelift Glide and 6 other heel suspension boots. Incorporating years of feedback from clinicians and patients, this latest heel suspension boot was designed to be 40% lighter, cooler, and less bulky than a pillow-style boot, according to the manufacturer.
