To the Editor:
I am the corresponding author for the recently published article titled "Turning and Repositioning the Critically Ill Patient With Hemodynamic Instability: A Literature Review and Consensus Recommendations" (J Wound Ostomy Continence Nurs. May/June 2013;40(3):254-267).
The letter is in regard to disclosure of relationships statements provided by the authors in relation to the content that was submitted for publication. I have been asked to clarify our declaration of no disclosures.
During the process of initial submission, I, the corresponding author, after reviewing the contributions of the associated coauthors and the main objectives of the article, deemed there were no significant conflicts of interest in regard to our review of literature on the evidence surrounding hemodynamic instability and turning, as well as our consensus recommendations on how to turn these individuals. I maintain that, for the primary content of the article, no financial disclosures were necessary.
However, in review of our facility-specific forms (see Figure 3), a company-specific product (Mepilex Border Sacrum, Molnlycke Healthcare, Norcross, Georgia) was included. I am a consultant for, and serve on the speaker's bureau of, Molnlycke Healthcare LLC.
Sincerely,
