The American Society of Clinical Oncology has launched a new wiki site to engage the cancer community in its clinical practice guideline development process: http://www.asco.org/guidelineswiki. The new site will allow oncologists, practitioners, and patients to provide feedback or submit evidence on individual published ASCO guidelines. The site also provides an overview of the evolution of the recommendations for each guideline.

"Cancer treatment has advanced based on clinical trials conducted in a surprisingly small number of patients. With new laboratory insights and a massive expansion of potential drugs, we have to begin to gain knowledge from every treatment experience if we are to accelerate progress and continuously improve quality of care," ASCO President Clifford A. Hudis, MD, FACP, said in a statement.

"ASCO guidelines are intended to help improve cancer care, and this new site will enhance our ability to do so by learning from the experiences of our colleagues."

The site is open to all for viewing. But, to comment or submit new evidence, individuals must open an ASCO Guidelines Wiki use account (which can be requested by contacting mailto:[email protected]). A news release notes that comments or new evidence will be reviewed by the site administrator and forwarded to the individual guideline panel co-chair for consideration.
