PEDAGOGY OF THE WOUNDED HEALER

Stay pure and virginal young Neophyti

(Said the elder)

Chaste is what you want to be

Stay away from the profane and unclean

Do not dip your hands in the patient's blood as I

Have so many times and failed, scarred,

Poisoned by disappointment and death

Take the pure...speech, touch

Do well and think in altruistic algorithms

Teach and converse, hold many hands,

Chant breathe and relax...

Yours will be the gift of the patient's love[horizontal ellipsis]

And you will remain chaste.

For I have seen the wretched bodies

Deformed by scientific endeavor,

Alive by tubes and pharmacotherapy

The decisions I have had to make!

The forgotten hands I did not shake

Priority, Priority! this became the life for me

Do not become as I

Young Neophyti

Choose the sacred, not the profane

For you will not be able to stand the pain.
