I couldn't agree more with the Editorial in the December 2012 and January issues. Will nurses ever be able to speak with one voice? Based on my experience in nursing for more than 40 years, I'm not optimistic.
Maureen Shawn Kennedy's call for nurses to be more involved in or at least informed about international issues is so important. I think it applies to all Americans. Perhaps our country's leadership would operate in a more civil, collegial, and productive way if all of us knew more about how the world works and what people in other countries are experiencing-socially, economically, and politically.
