We had our annual editorial board meeting in New Orleans on October 28, 2012.
The Plastic Surgical Nursing (PSN) Journal has continued to thrive providing the membership with informative and timely articles. Each issue of PSN is a team effort and its success depends on volunteers who understand the importance of nursing education and sharing their expertise.
According to the year end report from Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, there were 1,149 individual subscriptions sold in 2012. This was a 3.23% increase from 2011, whereas the national average across other nursing journals was down 0.9%.
The journal continues to increase its online usage. The yearly Web comparison presented by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins showed that even though the number of visitors had decreased in the last year, down 24.23%, the average visit duration was 27.23 minutes, which is an increase of 44.76%. The PSN journal has the longest duration in all the nursing journals. This is very exciting statistics and the board strives to continue this upward trend.
The winners of the PSN Journal awards were presented in New Orleans. Many thanks to all the authors who submitted articles and congratulations to the following winners:
First place. Ethical and Legal Considerations in Teen Aesthetic Surgery by C. Leigh Wilhite, JD, RN, LHRM (January/March 2012).
Second place. A Historical, Clinical, and Ethical Overview of the Emerging Science of Facial Transplantation by Linda Evans, MSN, RN, CNOR (October/December 2011).
Third place. Wound Exudate-The Good, The Bad and The Ugly by Marcia Spear, ACNP-BC, CPSN, CWS (April/July 2012).
