I would like to take this opportunity to formally acknowledge and congratulate the recipients of the 2011 Journal of Forensic Nursing writing awards. The writing awards were created in 2010 to recognize writing excellence as reflected in practice, education and research. The award winning manuscripts were presented on October 11, 2012 in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, at the International Association of Forensic Nurses' Awards Reception, that was held in conjunction with the 20th Annual Scientific Assembly. Members of the Editorial Board selected the award winning manuscripts based upon their innovation, significance, approach, potential impact and overall writing.
