Abstract
ABSTRACT: Nurses are the largest group of health professionals worldwide and almost certainly the largest providers of skin care. The development of nursing practice and policy requires nursing expertise to be harnessed to enable those who need it to access the resource. The Dermatology Nurses' Association has played a key role in defining the body of knowledge for the specialty of dermatology nursing over the past three decades, starting this work in 1981. The Dermatology Nurses' Association, along with several other international dermatology nursing associations, continues to be an educational vehicle that advances dermatology nursing practice and patient care. Collaboration within the international nursing community is essential to move the specialty of dermatological nursing forward as well as improving the overall skin health of all citizens.
