Abstract
The prevalence of asthma, a respiratory disease characterized by airway inflammation and reversible bronchoconstriction, has increased in the past 30 years. Epidemiological studies have indicated an association between obesity and asthma; however, the exact mechanism explaining this link has not been well understood. Studies demonstrating the impact of weight loss on improvement in asthma outcomes were reviewed using an evidence-based approach. The case report of an obese woman with asthma is presented and compared with the available evidence.
