"Patient Privacy and Company Policy in Online Life" (iNurse, September 2011) is timely. Nurses should be able to use social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, to our benefit.
However, there's no need to "push the envelope." Some nurses may drink or swear outside the workplace, but it's not appropriate that we post such information online. We should think twice about what we're sharing and respect ourselves and our profession by holding ourselves to a higher standard and setting better examples.
