As you read in the August-September issue, the American Society for Nutrition (ASN) is excited to announce that Nutrition Today(R) is now an official partner publication. Nutrition Today(R) is a bimonthly journal that provides nutrition professionals, clinicians, nurses, and students with authoritative reviews on food and eating practices. Recent topics covered include snacks for athletes; obesity, metabolic syndrome, and the Mediterranean diet; grain-based foods; and use of the waist-to-height ratio as a screening tool for cardiovascular disease.

"ASN is proud to announce this partnership with a journal that has been in publication for nearly 40 years," said ASN President Sharon Donovan, PhD, RD. "Nutrition Today(R) is an outstanding addition to ASN's peer-reviewed publications portfolio." With this new relationship, ASN members receive a 55% savings when subscribing to the journal (US $40/$65 ROW-e-mail [email protected] to receive the special discount code).

"I am simply delighted for Nutrition Today(R) to be associated with American Society for Nutrition, which is the premier nutrition science society in the world. Many of our Editorial Board members are members of ASN as well, so it is like coming home," added Johanna Dwyer, DSc, RD, Editor, Nutrition Today(R).

Nadine Sahyoun, PhD, RD, ASN member and associate professor at the University of Maryland, will serve as editorial board liaison to ASN. Dr Sahyoun's research is in nutritional epidemiology with an emphasis on chronic disease prevention and health promotion among older adults and on program evaluation of food assistance programs. Nadine is associate professor of nutritional epidemiology, Department of Nutrition and Food Science, and adjunct faculty at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. Dr Sahyoun previously worked at the Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion, US Department of Agriculture, and the Office of Analysis, Epidemiology and Health Promotion, National Center for Health Statistics; she completed her PhD in nutrition at Tufts University School of Nutrition.
