PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Onsite traditional classes or distance learning via the Internet. The La Salle University WOCNEP is offered in 2 formats. Split Option-offered annually; onsite once-weekly classes at Philadelphia campus (easy commuting) with offsite clinical preceptorships near home. Online Distance Education-offered annually; Web-based distance-learning classes, plus 3 clinical immersion days in Philadelphia per course; offsite clinical preceptorships after the 2 required courses. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The RB Turnbull, JR School of WOC Nursing is a fully accredited Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Education Program. Established in 1961 the Cleveland Clinic WOCNEP program offers candidates a full scope courses six times a year in Cleveland, Ohio. Clinical experience may be completed on the Cleveland Clinic campus or with an approved off-site preceptor. On completion of the didactic and clinical components, continuing education credits and a graduation certificate is awarded, and the graduate is eligible to complete the certification exams through the Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Certification Board.

 

ONSITE EDUCATION OPTION: The onsite option is a full scope WOC nursing education program completed in eight (8) weeks. The didactic component is completed over the first four weeks, followed by 120 hours of clinical experience. The clinical experience can be completed onsite at Cleveland Clinic (limited onsite clinical seats available) or offsite under the mentorship of an approved preceptor. The learning activities include classroom, independent learning activities, group discussion, & lab experiences. A comprehensive final exam is completed at the end of the four week didactic learning experience.

 

ONLINE EDUCATION OPTION: The online option is a full scope WOC nursing education program. The didactic segment is presented completely online and includes four courses; Concepts in WOC Nursing, Wound and Skin Management, Fecal and Urinary Diversions, and Continence Management. Each of the courses are approximately four weeks long and include asynchronous discussion threads, self directed learning modules, individual and group projects, and a comprehensive final exam. All course work is completed and submitted within the learning management system. Once the didactic courses are completed, each learner will complete a 120 hour clinical experience with an approved preceptor.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Offered in partnership with the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Metropolitan State University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, this 100% ONLINE program with split option clinical is designed for baccalaureate-prepared nurses, even novice computer users, who wish to pursue education in the wound, ostomy, and/or continence nursing specialty without traveling or putting their home/work life on hold! webWOC was the first web-based program accredited by the WOCN and celebrated its 11th year online in 2011. New to the Program this year is a practicum completion involving a Portfolio Evaluation. webWOC is the only Program accredited by the WOCN to offer this option. The Program is taught by experts in WOC nursing and in online education via online discussions, quizzes and exams and weekly LIVE online classes. The curriculum offered is rigorous in order to prepare nurses for the national certification exams and emphasizes collaboration with other learners to enhance professional networks. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This program is offered for registered nurses who seek advanced knowledge and skills in the management of chronic and complex wounds. The web-supported portion of the program is six weeks and provides content using multiple teaching and learning strategies, with twenty-four hour per day availability and universal access to the classroom and content. This prepares the student for the intensive on-site portion of the class which consists of fourteen days of didactic and clinical experience. The course addresses a broad range of wounds, healing problems, and components of specialized nursing practice using a variety of expert faculty. Concepts guiding the didactic content and practicum are prevention, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of the healing process. A unique aspect of the program is the selection and matching of students with preceptors certified in wound care and practicing in various health care settings. Students will earn 6 graduate quarter credits.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Wound Management Specialty Program is a continuing nursing education program, offered by the VA Eastern Kansas Wound Management Academy and is fully accredited as a traditional 3 week on site educational program by the Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse Society. The program consists of approximately 90 hours didactic and 40 hours of clinical experience, with WOC preceptors in the VA and greater Kansas City Area.

 

The Academy is located in Leavenworth, Kansas at the Eastern Kansas Health Care System's VA Medical Center. The course prepares the nurse to practice preventive, rehabilitative, health maintenance, and therapeutic interventions in the management of acute and chronic wounds, fistulae, management of percutaneous drains and tubes, and lower extremity diseases. Our goal is to prepare nurses with a quality wound specialty program that optimizes patient outcomes across the lifespan.

 

Graduates of the course will be eligible to take the national board certification examination offered by the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Certification Board to become a Certified Wound Care Nurse.
