Abstract
A substantial body of empirical research has shown that mind-body practices, including Yoga and meditation, can decrease symptoms of depression, anxiety, negative mood, and fatigue. Given Yoga's adaptability to various human conditions, it can improve the physical and psychological health of our elders. When blended with clinical therapies, Yoga practices can gently ease the distress that arises from aging, natural decline, physical trauma, and loss. This article describes core practices of Transpersonal Integrative Therapy, a Yoga-based mind-body approach that has shown significant improvements in vitality and positive states, and improved satisfaction with life for those experiencing grief and mourning.
