Abstract
Through being a patient, this nurse experienced healthcare professionals can be limited regarding the deeper issues within a patient's soul. Nurses cannot give what they do not have; but responding to personal spiritual needs equips nurses to meet patients' soul needs. The biblical account of sisters Mary and Martha (Luke 10:38-42) provides insight on the importance of Christian discipleship and diligent work, suggesting Christian nurses may need to be like Mary-sitting at Jesus' feet, and Martha-working for Christ.
