Evidence-based practice (EBP) is a problem-solving approach to clinical practice that integrates the use of best evidence in combination with a clinician's expertise, along with patient preferences and values, to formulate a plan of care. EBP can validate and promote an infusion alliance. A review is presented of what constitutes evidence, how to access evidence, the importance of critique appraisal, incorporation of evidence through integration, and the need for perpetuation with contribution to EBP.
