I thoroughly enjoyed the article "Rapid Response Teams Seen Through the Eyes of the Nurse" (Original Research, June), which gave me tremendous ideas for the community hospital where I work and cochair the code blue/rapid response team committee. We continuously try to encourage the use of rapid response team calls and hope they are beneficial to our patients.
Until reading this article, I never thought about how the nurse felt in regard to calling the health care team to action when a patient needs immediate assistance. Through our committee's work, I hope we can ensure that our hospital isn't a reluctant adopter of rapid response teams and that our nurses are praised for recognizing changes in their patients.
