Save the date. The American Professional Wound Care Association (APWCA) will celebrate its 10th Anniversary, APWCA2011 National Clinical Conference, March 31 to April 3, 2011, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Review and refresher course. "The Essentials: A Comprehensive Review and Refresher Course on Wound Care Management and Intervention" will be held Saturday and Sunday, August 7-8, 2010, at the Renaissance Philadelphia Hotel at the Philadelphia International Airport. This is an intensive 2-day review for all practitioners. Seven faculty members, all leaders in wound care and noted for their teaching and communication skills, make this program a valuable tool for clinicians to update their general knowledge, as well as prepare for certification examination including the Physician Wound Care Certification Exam offered by Council for Medical Education and Testing.

Council for Medical Education and Testing
The Council for Medical Education and Testing (CMET) is the only physician-specific wound care certifying organization in the United States. Upcoming examination dates and locations include:
* August 21, 2010: 1 PM to 6 PM, at the Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa, Birmingham, Alabama; in conjunction with Advances in the Science of Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Conference.
* September 25, 2010: 10 AM to 3 PM, at the Embassy Suites San Francisco Airport-Gateway Boulevard, San Francisco, California
* October 3, 2010: 12:30 PM to 5:30 PM, at the Gaylord Palms Hotel and Convention Center, in Orlando, Florida; in conjunction with the Clinical Symposium on Advances in Skin & Wound Care
* November 13, 2010: 11 AM to 4 PM, at the Sheraton Newark Airport Hotel, Newark, New Jersey
* February 26, 2011 (tentative): 11 AM to 4 PM, at Sheraton Gateway Hotel at LAX-Los Angeles Airport, California.

New Jersey Hospital Association
The New Jersey Hospital Association's (NJHA's) Healthcare Business Solutions has published a Pocket Guide to Pressure Ulcers, a bedside reference tool to support practitioners in all healthcare settings. To create the guide, the NJHA partnered with 2 wound care thought and content leaders: Elizabeth A. Ayello, PhD, RN, ACNS-BC, CWON, MAPWCA, FAAN, who served as past president of the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel and chairperson of NJHA's Pressure Ulcer Collaborative, and Jeffrey M. Levine, MD, AGSF, CMD, CWS, a geriatrician at St Vincent Hospital Wound Care Center in Manhattan, New York, and active speaker and author on pressure ulcers.
The NJHA's Institute for Quality and Patient Safety has become an industry leader in pressure ulcer quality improvement efforts.
