Abstract
An overview of vascular access ports used in home care and how their use increases nurse's exposure to needlestick injury is presented. Current information, legislation, cost, and the personal toll a needlestick injury takes on the nurse is included. Suggestions of engineering controls available that can protect organizations and nurses are provided.
