Nevada CE Requirements for License Renewal
As a nurse in the state of Nevada, you are required to earn continuing education to renew your active license. All of our CE activities are accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
Renewal Requirements
RN
- Every two years
- 30 hours of continuing education
- 4 hours cultural competency, diversity, equity & inclusion
- One-time requirement
- 4 hour bioterrorism course
- 2 hours on the stigma, discrimination and unrecognized bias toward persons who have acquired or are at risk of acquiring HIV for nurses who provide or supervise the provision of emergency medical services in a hospital or primary care. Complete within 2 years after beginning to provide or supervise the provision of such care.
LPN
- Every two years
- 30 hours of continuing education
- 4 hours cultural competency, diversity, equity & inclusion
- One-time requirement
- 4 hour bioterrorism course
- 2 hours on the stigma, discrimination and unrecognized bias toward persons who have acquired or are at risk of acquiring HIV for nurses who provide or supervise the provision of emergency medical services in a hospital or primary care. Complete within 2 years after beginning to provide or supervise the provision of such care.
Advanced Practice
- Every two years
- 45 hours of continuing education related to role or population focus (may include 30 hours to meet RN requirement)
- 2 hours related to the use and misuse of controlled substances for APRNs that have dispensing or prescribing privileges. Screening, Brief, Intervention and Referral to Treat (SBIRT) approaches of substance use disorder (SUD).
- Within two years of initial licensure, and then every four years
- 2 hours related to suicide prevention
- One-time requirement
- 4 hour bioterrorism course
- 2 hours on the stigma, discrimination and unrecognized bias toward persons who have acquired or are at risk of acquiring HIV for nurses who provide or supervise the provision of emergency medical services in a hospital or primary care. Complete within 2 years after beginning to provide or supervise the provision of such care.
- Treating/Managing Opioids/SUD – all DEA registered practitioners are required to take 8 hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other SUD including appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of an SUD.
- CRNA:
- Additional 15 hours continuing education related to the practice as a nurse anesthetist
