Abstract

This large-scale within-group analysis review proposes 2 broad mechanisms of action underlying the efficacy of VR interventions for chronic pain indications. VR interventions addressing kinesiophobia seem to be significantly effective in nontraumatic chronic neck pain patients. Psychobehavioral VR interventions demonstrate significant efficacy in the chronic low back pain population. Studies with interventions targeting nonspecific chronic pain populations did not show significant results.
