The Institute for Palliative Medicine at San Diego Hospice recently launched the PAL-MED CONNECT Palliative Medicine Resource Hotline. The PAL-MED CONNECT Hotline number is 1-877-PAL-MED4. This service is available 24/7 to healthcare professionals to access top-quality palliative care consultative and educational support.

Since its pilot launch in July, the hotline has received calls regarding safely prescribing opioids, pain management, use of NG tubes, opioid conversion, difficult family conversations, and addressing neuropathic pain syndromes.

This project is supported by a grant from UnitedHealth Group to create the PAL-MED CONNECT hotline with the objectives of developing, implementing, and evaluating a palliative care telephonic consultation service.
