I applaud the authors of "Electric Power Plant Emissions and Public Health" (February) for their timeliness. Control of power plant emissions has been a hotly debated issue for years, and nursing's involvement in the debate is overdue. Armed with an understanding of how environmental pollutants affect patients' health, nursing students, bedside nurses, and advanced practice nurses alike can influence politicians at the local, state, and federal levels.
