Reinhardt Kapsak, MS, RDN, Named CEO of IFIC
Wendy Reinhardt Kapsak, MS, RDN, has been named chief executive officer of the International Food Information Council (IFIC), a nonprofit educational organization that seeks to communicate science-based information about sustainable food systems.
Ms. Reinhardt Kapsak most recently was president and CEO of the Produce for Better Health Foundation for the past five years. During her tenure at PBHF she led the organization's efforts to increase fruit and vegetable consumption through research, thought leadership, public-private partnerships, value chain and influencer connectivity. Prior to PBHF, she held global lead and senior management positions at Monsanto Co. Earlier, she spent 12 years at IFIC as senior director of health and wellness. Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Names Wylecia Harris PhD, Chief Executive Officer
Wylecia Wiggs Harris, PhD, CAE, who has led membership, charitable and social impact organizations for more than 30 years, has been named incoming Chief Executive Officer of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Harris, who since 2018 has been the CEO of the American Health Information Management Association, will have oversight of all entities under the Academy's umbrella. Harris will also serve as the CEO of the Academy's Foundation. At the American Health Information Management Association, Harris led the organization's domestic and international transformation with a focus on expanding its influence and impact. From 2015 to 2018, Harris was the Chief Executive Officer of the League of Women Voters U.S., where she revitalized the national organization and developed and translated strategic vision into operational solutions.
From 2010 to 2015, Harris worked at the American Nurses Association Enterprise as chief of staff/special projects officer, and then as CEO. Certified by the American Society of Association Executives, Harris was named one of 2021's Top Diversity Leaders by Modern Healthcare, as well as one of the publication's 10 Diversity Leaders to Watch. In 2022, Modern Healthcare recognized her on its Top Women Leaders list. Harris is a graduate of Wittenburg University. She earned a Master of Management degree in marketing, health services management and business policy from Northwestern University and a doctorate in organizational management with leadership specialization from Capella University. Harris succeeds Patricia M. Babjak, who is retiring on June 30 after serving as CEO since 2009.
GRANT PROPOSALS NOW BEING ACCEPTED FOR DANONE INSTITUTE NORTH AMERICA SUSTAINABLE FOOD SYSTEMS INITIATIVE
Danone Institute North America (DINA), announced a request for proposals for the third offering of its DINA Sustainable Food Systems Initiative, formerly called the 'One Planet. One Health' Initiative. The biennial competitive grant is now accepting submissions from eligible applicants in the U.S. and Canada. The 2023-2025 initiative commits a total of US$260,000 in funding, its largest contribution yet, for up to five transdisciplinary teams who demonstrate a commitment to actionable and achievable projects that sit at the intersection of community, health of people and health of planet. Selected grantees will be challenged to design, implement, and evaluate actionable community-based projects for sustainable food systems that improve human health and nutrition over a two-year period. Each of the five finalists will receive US$50,000 to support and expand their project. An additional US$10,000 will be granted to the team with the strongest communications plan, awarded in the fall of 2023.
