CRITICAL THINKING AND CLINICAL JUDGMENT
Marilyn Jackson, Donna D. Ignatavicius, Bette Case, Sudbury, MA: Jones and Barlett Publishers. 2006.
Critical Thinking and Clinical Judgment is presented in a manner that is refreshing in its format and informative in its content. The authors have formatted the book in question and answer blocks which flows from question to question as if one was thinking about the questions from the previous topic. In this manner, the topics are relevant, and the answers create the illusion of having a conversation with the multiple authors of the book.
The information contained with the question and answer blocks is drawn from a myriad of sources to include organizational developmental theory, psychology, and sociology, thereby enhancing the information on critical thinking. A section on the problems that we commonly encounter in the clinical setting is also included with examples of how to correct those scenarios using a more organized thinking pattern. The book is appropriate for those working in both the clinical and academic setting and for anyone who has a desire to develop a sound understanding of critical thinking in the nursing profession.
