In this issue, we begin a new five-part series within our ongoing series, Supporting Family Caregivers: No Longer Home Alone, in collaboration with the AARP Public Policy Institute. These five articles will offer nurses practical guidance on assisting family caregivers of people who live with pain-with a focus on working as a team with the caregiver and patient to assess, treat, and manage pain. The articles will also include informational tear sheets and links to helpful instructional videos for caregivers.
Read the first article in the series, "Interrupting Biases in the Experience and Management of Pain," to learn about a person- and family-centered approach to pain management you can use to promote equitable care, particularly with patients and caregivers from diverse backgrounds. Also see the guest editorial, "Caring for a Person Living with Pain," in which Heather M. Young, Rita B. Choula, and Susan C. Reinhard discuss how the nursing profession can improve family caregivers' well-being.
