The 2022 ASCO Annual Meeting, which will be held both in-person and online June 3-7, provides an opportunity to explore the latest advancements in cancer research, treatment, and patient care. This year's theme will be Advancing Equitable Cancer Care Through Innovation, with more than 200 sessions offering resources and research on this topic.
"The COVID-19 pandemic has laid bare the inequities that exist in our global health care systems," noted Everett E. Vokes, MD, FASCO, 2021-2022 ASCO President, in his program message. "It has also provided us an opportunity to reinvent cancer care delivery and test promising approaches to a more equitable future in health care. In oncology, innovation can be seen around every corner. Opportunities range from new therapies and smarter use of existing treatments, and offering patients broader and easier access through telemedicine, to rethinking clinical trial eligibility and much more."
Attendees will have access to more than 2,000 abstracts, along with 85 livestream sessions from anywhere, and more than 2,500 poster presentations. Topics span the spectrum of hematology/oncology, including new drugs; treatment advances in prostate, breast, lung, and blood cancers, as well as screening, prevention, access to care, immunotherapy, and precision medicine.
Program Highlights
With a mix of live and on-demand content, there will be no shortage of cutting-edge research available to attendees. Beginning June 3, participants will also have access to both in-person and on-demand presentations-including poster and poster discussion sessions, clinical science symposia, and education sessions-that align with their unique interests.

* Opening Session, Saturday, June 4, which includes a Presidential Address from Everett Vokes, MD, FASCO, as well as guest speakers Andre Michel Ilbawi, MD, from the World Health Organization, and Douglas R. Lowy, MD, at the National Cancer Institute.
* ASCO Plenary Series-Rapid Abstract Updates, Sunday, June 5: Research presented throughout the 2021-2022 virtual Plenary Series will be showcased during a special session at the ASCO Annual Meeting
* Hear from select award recipients during the Mentorship and Career Development Roundtable: A Discussion with ASCO's Special Award Recipients on Saturday, June 4 from 1:15-2:15 PM (CT) in the Arie Crown Theater.
* Film Screening: Can You Hear My Voice? by Bill Brummel, an award-winning documentary producer/director. The film highlights the work of London's Shout at Cancer choir, whose singers are also living without voice boxes.
