With deep gratitude, we extend our best wishes to editorial board member Beth Keely RN, MSN, PhD, as she retires from her role as the Director of Undergraduate Nursing at California State University, Long Beach. Beth will also step down from the editorial board of DCCN as she pursues other interest and adventures in retirement.

Much of DCCN's success is directly related to the time and effort that Beth has put forth over many years-as a board member, peer reviewer, and advisor. Her specific suggestions and targeted recommendations provided direction and support for many new and experienced authors. As a professor, author, and mentor, Beth's work inspired professional growth for countless nurses as she guided students and new authors through publication and academic advancement.

Beth began writing for DCCN when she was still a bedside ICU/CCU nurse. She enjoyed writing and sharing the process with her peers. Later, in graduate school, she realized that staff nurses do not have the time to read a lot. She also identified another common issue: articles in scientifically based journals were difficult to read and often were not well understood or interpreted accurately for bedside application. Beth tells us, "I wrote with this in mind. I wanted what I said to be applicable for the clinical setting."

When Beth was asked to serve on the editorial board for DCCN, she eagerly agreed. At that time, she was completing a doctoral degree and working with graduate students. It was a rewarding experience which also encouraged her to expand her work with students to help them develop their work for scholarly publication.

Beth describes her time working with editors, peer reviewers, and the entire staff at DCCN as an outstanding experience, yet she is excited to pass the baton to emerging leaders and clinical experts who will continue her legacy of publication excellence!

Beth's professional footprint will stay with DCCN as our success is directly related to her generous gifts and service to DCCN.
