The work described by the 2 authors demonstrates the inherent value of the clinical nurse specialist role. From beginning to end of this patient's journey, a clinical nurse specialist was integral to the interdisciplinary team's success in caring for the patient. At times, it is hard to define the daily work that clinical nurse specialists do. This article truly described the practice responsibilities of a clinical nurse specialist and the positive impact on patient outcomes. As a relatively new to practice clinical nurse specialist, this article truly validated my work. I struggle with feeling confident that I am doing the right things. This article reassured me that my daily decisions and actions are in alignment with the clinical nurse specialist core competencies. Bravo to these 2 clinical nurse specialists!
