An electrosurgery generator is a critical piece of equipment in any therapeutic endoscopy setting. Electrosurgery employs high frequency alternating current, provided by an electrosurgery generator, and differs from electrocautery in that both cutting and coagulation effects can be achieved. Safe application of grounding pads, careful management of active accessories, and good care of electrosurgical equipment is crucial to patient and operator safety when using electrosurgery in the clinical setting. This presentation will provide a detailed overview of electrosurgery topics specific to the gastroenterology setting.
