COVID-19 vaccine reluctance among U.S. nurses. Nurses, including advanced practice RNs, were less likely than other providers to say they'd get vaccinated for COVID-19 as soon as a vaccine becomes available, a poll conducted by Medscape found. Among 7,000 clinicians, medical students, and health care administrators who responded to the poll, only 53% of nurses said they'd get the vaccine compared with 71% of physicians. Nurses 65 years of age and older were more likely to get the vaccine than those younger than 65 (66% versus 46%). Interestingly, emergency physicians, a group likely to have been on the front lines of the pandemic, were the most hesitant among physicians, with 63% saying they would get vaccinated right away and only 46% saying they would recommend their patients do so.
