In celebration of 10 years of its Bad Ad Program, run by the Office of Prescription Drug Promotion (OPDP), the Food and Drug Administration is offering a free, self-paced online course to help health care providers learn to recognize and report to the agency any potentially false or misleading prescription drug promotion. Continuing education (CE) credits can be earned for completion of the one-hour course. Participants must score 70% or higher on a posttest and complete a course evaluation form to receive the CE credits.
A series of modules and real-life case studies help the provider to achieve the following learning objectives:
* Identify the role that the OPDP plays in regulating prescription drug promotion and advertising.
* Recognize persuasive techniques commonly used in advertising and promotion.
* Describe the most common regulatory issues raised by prescription drug promotion.
* Recognize potentially false or misleading prescription drug promotion.
* Locate the Bad Ad contact information.
* Translate knowledge into action and report potentially problematic prescription drug promotion to the OPDP.
