Shannon N. Zenk named director of the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR). National Institutes of Health director Francis S. Collins has selected Shannon N. Zenk, PhD, MPH, RN, FAAN, to be the new director of the NINR. In this role, Zenk will oversee the NINR's annual budget of nearly $170 million, the majority of which supports extramural research at institutions across the country. Zenk's own research focuses on social inequities and health, with the goal of identifying multilevel approaches to improve health and eliminate racial/ethnic and socioeconomic health disparities. She is expected to assume her new role as NINR director in early fall.
