The National Conference for Nurse Practitioners (NCNP) Virtual Summit 2020 will take place June 19-20, 2020. This virtual event will bring you educational sessions relevant to advanced clinical practice and provide you with the tools needed to improve the overall quality of patient care.
Margaret A. Fitzgerald, DNP, FNP-BC, NP-C, FAANP, CSP, FAAN, DCC and Sophia Chu Rodgers, DNP, ACNP, FNP, FAANP, FCCM, will deliver the keynote address on COVID-19: Challenges in Primary and Acute Care. They will discuss the latest recommendations in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of COVID-19, in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
The Summit will feature two additional speakers who will cover COVID-19: Susanne J. Phillips, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, FAANP, University of California, Irvine, Calif., will overview scope of practice changes in light of COVID-19 and Madeleine M. Lloyd, PhD, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, New York University, New York, N.Y., will offer guidelines on assessing and prescribing for anxiety and depression amid the pandemic.
Additional sessions on Friday, June 19, will cover endocrinology for primary care clinicians featuring tips on the initial workup and intervention of commonly referred metabolic complaints and conditions; deprescribing; hypertension management, and the latest treatment recommendations, to help providers negotiate the many available options and select the best medication to enhance patient outcomes; and instruction on performing a neurologic exam, enabling attendees to thoroughly assess patients and interpret abnormal findings to guide imaging and treatment choices.
The Virtual Summit's second day will cover topics ranging from managing geriatric behaviors through evidence-based treatment options; new drug updates, focusing on the latest medications and their appropriate uses, adverse reactions, and drug interactions; sepsis treatment, including epidemiology, guideline updates, bundles, and what you need to know to care for a septic patient; and an in-depth look at medicinal cannabis, with regard to addiction, psychosis, drug interactions, and driving under its influence.
Lippincott Professional Development will award a maximum of 12.5 contact hours and a maximum of 8.5 advanced pharmacology (Rx) hours for this continuing nursing education activity. In addition, the NCNP Virtual Summit will be available on demand for 90 days following the conference.
