ANNUAL CONFERENCE
The 11th Annual ANIA Spring Conference was held in New Orleans on May 21 and 22. Building on the trends and technological advances of the last year, nursing informatics has been a major driving force for process change. As organizations move from the paper patient record to an electronic health record, which can include patient interaction with the record as well as interaction from all clinicians, nursing informaticists are leading the way in implementing these systems. We had presenters from across the United States, as well as Canada and Japan. A partial list of topics and presenters appears below.
The conference had the highest registration ever. The partnership with the conference management firm, A. J. Janetti, Inc, was very successful. Conference CDs will be available for sale on the Web site in limited quantities soon.
SITE NEWS
Check out the ANIA Web site frequently for electronic health record news. The US Department of Health and Human Services and other healthcare informatics organizations are moving forward rapidly to provide standards and incentives for implementation of electronic health records. The ANIA Web site (http://www.ania.org) has much information in regard to developments that have an impact on nursing informaticists' profession and practice.
ANIA ELECTS NEW OFFICERS
Elections results are in. Curtis Dykes is the new president-elect and Denise Tyler was elected secretary. Our sincere appreciation goes to Lori Frank, the retiring secretary for her energy and work for the organization during her term of office. We are excited about the upcoming year and the development of the organization as new team members come on the board.
